1 small white onion
1 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup water
3/4 cup sugar (or less)
1 tbsp dried dill
Thinly slice the cucumbers and the onion; place in a large bowl.
Combine the vinegar, water and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Heat and stir until the sugar has dissolved.
Pour over cucumber and onion, and stir in dill. Cover and refrigerate until cold.
Marinate at least an hour, but can keep for several days, even weeks, in the fridge.
